NEW EX3 Stepper

For use with Aloka UST-672 5/7.5, B&K Medical 8848, 8558, 8658, GE ERB, Hitachi EUP-U533, Siemens Endo-PII and Terason 8B4S Ultrasound Systems and Transducer Probes.

The New EX3 Stepper replaces the Old EXII Stepper.

The EX3 Stepper is used while performing Real Time planning for Low Dose ( LDR ) or High Dose ( HDR ) Brachytherapy. It provides users with accurate positioning and offers flexibility, smooth rotation and free movement for prostate cancer detection, targeting, and treatment. Through USB cable connection from stepper to computer, the stepper reports angular and linear position directly to the treatment planning software offering timely analysis. EX3 Stepper

For use with Aloka UST-672 5/7.5, BK 8848, 8558, 8658, GE ERB, Hitachi EUP-U533, Siemens Endo-PII and Terason 8B4S
The EX3 Stepper’s modular design reports angular and linear position directly to the treatment planning software intraoperatively. Through direct communication, the stepper offers rapid connection for data analysis and reduces clutter in the surgical suite. The unique design of the EX3 also features a removable electronic unit which mitigates the risk of damaging transmission components and reduces cleaning time after the procedure
The EX3 Stepper, like its predecessor the EXII™, offers compatibility for BK Medical, GE Healthcare, Hitachi Aloka, Terason and Siemens Transrectal ultrasound probes and it is currently validated for use with Varian Vitesse™, VariSeed™, and MIM Symphony treatment planning software.
  •  Direct reporting of angular and linear position to Treatment Planning Software
  •  Easily removable electronic unit allows easy cleaning of business end of the stepper without water migration into communication components.
  •  Reference scale on the retraction knob allows user to “zero out” the retraction plane.
  •  Continuous or step positioning allow for 1-5mm slices for dosimetric planning
  •  Continuous cradle movement feature allows uninterrupted 90 degree image of each slice

Important: It attaches to the Micro-Touch family of Stabilizers which are sold as a package unless facility already possesses a Classic Stepper. Grids, Balloons, and Drapes are accessories sold along with the device.

FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  •  Direct USB connection from EX3 stepper to device operating TPS ( treatment planning software ).

  •  Removable electronic unit mitigates risk of transmission component damage and reduces cleaning time.

  •  Compatible with leading treatment planning software including Varian Medical System VariSeed™ and Vitesse™, MIMSoftware.

  •  Incremental X and Y fine adjustment of grid to achieve accurate needle path control and verification.

  •  Selection of continuous or 5mm step positions.

  •  The stepper cradle is compatible with the EXII.

  •  The EX3 has no display, but an off the shelf USB cable which plugs directly into the laptop.
  •  The "posterior" or back end is able to be disconnected for more thorough cleaning of the "anterior" or business end of the stepper. This will mitigate the water contamination  which sometimes affected the EXII. Step by step illustrations of the assembly and disassembly will be provided.
  •  The new stepper weighs an additional 1lb
  •  The back end has been enlarged due to the different encoders and we have taken the linear and angular encoders cords and placed them in a 2 to 1 module under the back cover.
  •  One USB cable solely emanates from the EX3 stepper.

Old EXII Stepper pertinent facts :

 
We have ceased production of the EXII.
  •  We are depleted of displays at this time as this and other important components have been obsolesced by the manufacturer.
  •  We will continue to inspect/repair EXII steppers for at least 3 years commencing October 3 2013
  •  With displays depleted, any repair requiring a new display will require a new stepper.
